Cover Design
The publishing world has changed significantly in the past few years, with the rise of e-books and quality print-on-demand services. But creating covers for print books can be difficult, time-consuming, and often overwhelming.
A poorly designed cover will turn off potential readers, even if your book is fantastic. However, a beautiful professionally designed cover will draw people to your story, and make your book stand out from the thousands released every year. We at KatGirl Studio new offer both beautifully painted custom covers and enhanced photo covers by illustrator Alicia Kat Dillman.
The Process
- Please send a project brief with a description of what you would like on your cover. You can also send examples of covers you like, and any other relevant reference materials.
- I will send you a contract and sign any NDA’s you require.
- Once the contract has been signed please send the following:
- The title name, author name, publisher name, publisher logo, back cover copy, price, barcode file, author & publisher website (if applicable), age group if you are publishing a book for the youth market.
- Cover specs (your printing company should send these to you)
- The name of the printing company you will be using (so I an acquire the needed ICC color profile files)
- Proposed deadline
- I’ll do a sketch and cover mock up for your book.
- Any revisions the the sketch will be made.
- An invoice for the first half of the project fee will be sent to you.
- Once payment has been received I will complete the cover.
- Any revisions will be made.
- An invoice for the final portion of the project fee will be sent to you.
- Once payment is received I will deliver the cover files directly to you or your printer.
- You credit Alicia Kat Dillman as the cover’s illustrator and designer, provide testimony, and send me a copy of the printed book.
*don’t have a barcode file for your book? No problem just send me the exact price and ISBN number and I’ll generate one for you, free of charge.
